  1. Amy and I had a great weekend. It was crazy to see how we are all pretty much who we were 40 odd years ago though with a somewhat different shape and crowned with gray hair. Even going back to Rosedale the neighborhood really hasn’t changed. Even the BDI is still there and overflowing with business at the foot of the bridge.

That being said, Winnipeg has changed significantly. We spent some time on Saturday driving through downtown and those neighborhoods. Downtown is significantly different with the new buildings along Portage and it was interesting to see what they had done at the Forks where the area had been all about trains and trucks. My dad worked there for the CN for more years than one can count.

I am not sure when we will get back but the invitation is open for any of you who are anywhere near southern California to drop in and see us. It is awfully comfortable here with temperatures that are very moderate and a beach that stretches forever.

Our warmest regards to everyone. We will look forward to seeing you again.

Hi Lesley, Rod and I were planning to be at the dinner tonight. Since Wednesday, I've been fighting a stomach flu and realized this afternoon that I could not make it after all. Hope everything was a success. Thanks for all your hard work.

So very sorry I could not attend the CHS Reunion Wine and Cheese, but often life just interferes with social plans. Looking through all the pictures that have been posted on the web page was pure joy and everyone who attended looked like they were having a great time. Congratulations to you and your committee for a job well done.

    Hi everyone

I feel a little disconnected today - maybe I have the post-reunion blues? Where to start - wasn't that the most excellent week end! I am so happy with the way that absolutely everything turned out. It was so good to see so many old friends. I had the best time. We were so fortunate with the weather the entire week end. Very special thanks to Bill & Shirley & to Jim & Judy for graciously opening their homes to entertain the class of '63. The 2 cakes were beautifully done. It was great to hear many nice comments from those who attended.

The planning has been a lot of work & a lot of time committment from everyone. It seemed as though the reunion event was always months away, & then, I couldn't believe that it was actually happening. I can't begin to thank each of you for all that you did to make our 50th reunion such a success. You have been absolutely the best to work with & I so appreciate each & every one of you. I think that we are a great team.

  6. We had a great time. Thanks again for hosting a great party. I think we may have been the only ones to take part in all the walks. Enjoyed them all. Kathleen is in recovery mode today. Haven't walked that much for quite a while. We met Ruth and Tim yesterday and went for a walk to the Forks and back so we are well hiked.

  7. In between the odd bit of scurrying around, I was able to observe that everybody at the reunion events seemed to be having a really good time. The photos say it all. It was nice talking to so many old friends, to some that I didn't even know in high school except by name, and to spouses / guests. Shirley and I were able to relax at the Wine and Cheese and wind down at the McGregors' BBQ, so it was a lot of fun for us too. Being part of the committee for 7 months was for me maybe as good as the reunion itself. We can't thank Lesley enough for being the inspiration and the driving force behind this weekend.

Hi Lesley, I want to thank you and all of your team for the wine and cheese last night and the event tonight. So great to see everybody and meet new friends too! Delicious dinner in a beautiful setting - wonderful music and great conversation. A good time!! I am just very sorry that I'm not able to attend tomorrow's events. Thank you for all your hard work! 9. For the two events that I was able to attend, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. As a rule, I do not enjoy mixing with people, but I instantly felt at home among friends and that made all the difference. Many thanks to the reunion committee for all their hard work. Again, when is the next reunion?

    Hi Lesley
Congrats to you & your committee on the reunion. Craig Brown (my sister's brother-in-law) was at a golf tournie on Sat. & some of the fellas from '63 attended. Sounds like they were all impressed. Well done! I'm sure the dinner etc went well too.

  11. Hi Lesley,
I would like to thank-you for the effort you put into making this event such a success. I had a wonderful time and it was absolutely great to see so many people that I have not seen for up to 50 years. Please let me know about the next 50 year re-union.

  12. Thanks Lesley. I was sorry to miss the reunion. As it turned out we didn't get to Carman until Tuesday. Glad everyone had a good time. Thanks for keeping all of us up to date and its always good to hear from you.

  13. Those pictures are fun … dang we was cute in elementary school! And it looks like I missed a really good party (parties). Luckily the wedding was worth it and at least Megan, John, and I were partying together. :)

I'm particularly glad to have that Ashland 4th grade picture. Miss Cox was one of my all time favorite teachers. Later, in high school in Quebec, my mom told me that at some parent teacher conference Miss Cox had said to her "Never under estimate Richard". I can't tell you how many times in my life that those little words kept me going when I was ready to quit. I hope teachers know … and that Miss Cox knew … how much they do for us. I can't understand why they are not the highest paid profession in our society. Miss Cox was interesting, fun, and certainly motivated me to love school back then.

And, speaking of cute, I remember the girl at the very right end of that class picture. I know I thought then that she was really pretty but darned if I have any idea now who she was. Do you recognize her? I love having John H and Derrick there in that same picture. We were rarely in the same class, so this one is special as the three of us remained close for so long.

And, no! I'm not volunteering to do the 100th. How could I possibly live up to the standards you've set?!! Great job! (and thank you, in absentia)

  14. Lesley,
The reunion weekend was great, getting reacquainted with old friends & classmates was really something. It was worth the trip! (not to Steinbach!) Just wanted to thank you & your team for doing an outstanding job.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for opening your home and gardens to us all for the CHS reunion. Everyone had a great time - and not one of us looked any older! It was a wonderful evening, which I'm sure has left us all with many warm memories.

The web site is fantastic. Such a lot of time and expertise has been put into it. I'll try to send off a few photos. Perhaps you'll be able to use some of them.

All the members of the planning committee did an excellent job of organizing this special event. Hopefully, we'll all be able to keep in touch in the future. Again, many thanks for everything.

    Bill & Shirley,
Thank you for your hospitality, for sharing your home with our classmates. Your work on the website greatly assisted the class of '63 to reconnect with, and better know, friends and classmates.

Lesley, I can’t tell you how much Gayle and I enjoyed the reunion. Saturday evening at Bill and Shirley’s residence was excellent. Of course, there is never enough time to say Hello to everyone. Table 5 was interesting. Two cancer survivors, and three couples who married in 1968.

    Hi Lesley,
Thanks so much for all your hard work. I had such a good time and it was wonderful to connect with people after so many years. I hung out mostly with Margaret, Jackie, Diana (Neufeld) and Bonnie (Pusey) and it felt like I'd never left.
